ur:performance are announcing a new night of colour in their series of art nights which embrace their philosophy of the experimental avant guard. The new colour in our series is Purple and all that Purple evokes. From 8pm on Wednesday 27th February. Some of what the ur:performance group and guests deliver will be literal, some not so. There are no rules or boundaries, just experimentation in what art can be.
Are you fixated by the colour Purple?
Are you Prince?
Are you royal?
Or does Purple not mean much to you?
Purple is perhaps mans earliest used pigment, The artists of neolithic cave sites in France used manganese powdered to draw and paint animals and to stencil the outlines of their own hands on the walls of their caves.
But where is purple now? How far has it come? Our artists from both within the ur:group and invited guest artists by will show their interpretations of purple, and what purple means to them.
Our first guest artist we can announce is Sandra Bouguerch. Sandra performed at White; a particularly emotive piece ‘Eyes Wide Shut‘, which you can see documented through both her own Vimeo film channel and our documentation of the night. You can also catch some more of her recent work featuring her father which address’s areas of vulnerabilty in regard to the onset of old age. Vimeo channel. (http://vimeo.com/bouguerch).
